TIMES modelling of CO2 streams for storage and utilisation in PtX facilities

The project was investigating the knowledge on costs, potentials and limitations on processes and technologies delivering negative CO2 emissions and how GHG neutrality could be achieved in a long-term perspective. And, constructing TIMES modelling tools for analysing long term energy strategies and the demand for negative CO2 opportunities. PtX and biofuel facilities were significantly improved in the TIMES model to accommodate the competition between producing renewable fuels and the demand for negative emissions allowing the model for endogenous optimisation of final negative CO2 demands.

KAOS – Klimaambitioner om samfundet (climate ambitions for the society)

Today several gymnasium students have needs not meet as they differ from the normal classes, while teachers have a limited resource to provide various study plans. We are developing a platform for teachers easy to use and implement within the classes Mathematics, Social science, Geography and Physics. A platform focusing on climate change and energy system modelling and providing the students with challenging task as LCOE calculations, understanding within Energy systems and planning, Carbon budgets and more.

NCES2020: Nordic Clean Energy Scenarios

The project Nordic Clean Energy Scenarios aims at identifying technological solutions to a carbon neutral Nordic region. It further aims at developing energy scenarios for the Nordic energy sector enabling the Nordic commitment to reach carbon neutrality.

NCES2020 brings together nine teams from four Nordic countries, with complementing modelling and analytical skills. Combined with use of open access energy system models and data, this strengthens Nordic cooperation and expertise in energy modelling. The ambition is to avoid the modelling exercise becoming a black box that is only accessible for a small group of peers to assess progress in the Nordic countries towards national goals. The resulting OpeN source TIMES model (ONTIMES) has been developed and used for analysing greenhouse gas (GHG) pathways for the Nordic GHG reduction targets.
